Application for Animal Use for Educational Purposes

Students, research assistants, faculty members, or staff may apply to our committee for the use of animals for educational purposes. It should be noted that individuals who will perform procedures on experimental animals—even for educational purposes—are required to hold an experimental animal usage certificate. All ethical rules apply equally to the use of animals for educational purposes; therefore, it is important to read the entire directive. Once the application dossier has been prepared completely as outlined below, it must be submitted to the ethics committee secretary.

Application Dossier Contents

1. Petition (A petition prepared by the project leader addressed to the Local Ethics Committee on Animal Experiments)

2. Application Form for Animal Use for Educational Purposes PDF WORD (Care should be taken to use Turkish as much as possible when filling out the application form. Relevant sections of the form must be completed in full, and appropriate selections must be made for multiple-choice options. All researchers involved in the study must personally sign the required sections of the dossier.)

3. Letter of Undertaking PDF WORD (Must be signed by all researchers.)

4. Copy of Experimental Animal Usage Certificate (Copies of certificates must be provided for all researchers who will perform procedures on experimental animals during the experiment, regardless of the purpose. Researchers without a certificate are not permitted to perform procedures on experimental animals.)

5. Full-text copies of 3 scientific publications related to the project (if applicable)

6. Two CDs
